About The Space

The entire cottage and property are yours to enjoy while staying at Blue Coat Cottage in Gettysburg. Whether you’re relaxing inside or outdoors on the patio we hope you find it restful and peaceful. When the weather cooperates put your feet up in the hammock and watch the sheep graze nearby, the blue heron land in Marsh Creek, deer and fox frolicking in the surrounding fields, and the birds singing in the trees.

We are sticklers for cleanliness. All of our beds and pillows have protective covers, as well as the mattresses, and our bedding is completely changed after each guest (including comforters). Every high touch area is cleaned and sanitized between guests with disinfectant and a UV light.

Other things to note:

This 113-year-old home, situated between two farms and surrounded by fields, with a view of the creek where General Robert E. Lee and his forces retreated on July 4, 1863, has low ceilings. Tall individuals should exercise caution when navigating the stairwell landing and the ceiling fans in the master bedroom. Due to its rural location, insects may occasionally make their way inside, particularly if the back door is left open for extended periods. While regular pest control measures are in place, the longer the back door is open, the greater the likelihood of insects entering the cottage.
